7. Regular Fit (usually varies by brand)
*I am going to cover the four most misused types of jeans. Remember jeans correspond with body type. Below is a body type chart their is only 6 shown, so if you don't fit one exactly your best bet is to choose the two numbers that combined would create your body type. I am a 1,4 combo.
The first jean we will discuss is the boot cut jean. I like to call this the cross-over jean. Even though this is a jean it is better off paired with formal and semi-formal attire. Dress shirts, dress boots (shoes), sweaters, and blazers are all good choices. The pant begins at the hip with a straight fit and begins to slightly flare towards the bottom, starting after the knee.
CHART NUMBERS: 1,2,3,4,5,6, NO EXTEME BODY TYPES!
The next jean is known as the slim jean. This jean is better paired off with a stylish sneaker/shoe. Wearing a dress shoe with a slim fitting jean is possible/acceptable. Anything more fitted will cause your feet appear very large. So larger feet stay away from the dress shoe combo! These are not as slim as a skinny jeans. These are very similar to a straight leg jean the main difference is the taper in at the ankle. The jean is usually overall "slimmer" than a straight fit.
CHART NUMBERS: 1,4
Every man should have a pair of this style of jean in their arsenal. If you can't quite pull of the slim fit jean then the straight leg is your next best choice. The difference between the slim fit and the straight leg is that the straight leg does not taper in at the bottom of the jean. It keeps a good amount of space at the bottom of the jean, which This should be not be worn with dress shoes, this pant is made for sneakers and boots. Its the slightly sportier jean.
CHART NUMBERS: 1,2,4,5
The final pant I am going to discuss is the skinny jean. This is one of the latest fads in mens fashion, mainly because this fit comes in the largest array of colors. This is the number one misused style of mens jeans. "IF YOU ARE NOT SKINNY DO NOT WEAR THEM!" This is not for the kinda skinny, basically skinny, or almost skinny. If people do not call you names such as sticks, bones, twiggy, or anything of the like these are not for you. This style of jean is best paired with a fitted shoe, in other words no bulky or puffy shoes as they are usually depicted with. Take tips form the guy in the picture, he did a good job.
CHART NUMBERS: 0! maybe a 1 or 4 but thats pushing it.
I DON'T AGREE WITH THIS STYLE OF JEAN FOR MEN. UNDER VERY SPECIFIC CIRCUMSTANCES ARE THESE OK TO WEAR. YOU MUST BE VERY SKINNY (MOST IMPORTANT). DO NOT SAGG THEM! WARNING THEY MAKE NO SNEAKER OR SHOE LOOK COOL. YOUR FEET WILL APPEAR HUGE! JUST LOOK AT THE PHOTO. LEAVE IT TO THE LADIES! JUST SAY NO! They look uncomfortable! This picture is the best I have ever seen them look!
MY PERSONAL JEAN PREFERENCES ARE BOOT CUT, STRAIGHT FIT, AND SLIM FIT JEANS NOTHING SKINNIER NOTHING BIGGER. NO REGULAR FITS AND NO WORKER FIT JEANS.
WE MUST ALSO TAKE IN CONSIDERATION THE RISE OF THE JEAN WE ARE WEARING. RISE IS THE SPACE FROM THE LOWER CROTCH REGION TO THE WAIST LINE. LOW MEANS LESS SPACE. IT MAKES THE LEGS LOOK LONGER AND MORE FIT. Low rise can take some getting use to.
The Final Tips.
1.) Always make sure your jeans do not appear to give you a wedgie in the back.
2.) Make sure your jeans are the correct length not too long and not too short.
3.) Some of the slimmer styled jeans takes a breaking in to get comfortable.
4.) Do not follow trends go by what looks good on you.
5.) Remember difference scenes such as the urban scene may have different fits to their clothing even though they may have the same name, your best bet is to try them on.
6.) This page is only my opinion nothing is "set in stone fact!
